Responsibilities
- Establishes and maintains accurate and up-to-date patient profiles
- Receives prescriptions and refill requests and verifies that information is complete and accurate
- Processes prescriptions using third party insurance billing
- Answers telephone calls and assists facilities and patients with questions and refers them to the pharmacist for medication information as needed
- Packages prescriptions according to requirements of facilities and patients
- Compounds pharmaceutical preparations as prescribed and as allowed by Radius Living Rx policy and state and federal regulations
- Receives and stores incoming drugs and supplies, verifies quantities against invoices, checks for outdated medications in current inventory, and informs supervisors of stock needs and shortages
- Cleans and assists in the maintenance of equipment and work areas
- Assists in the maintenance of proper storage and security conditions for drug inventory
Qualifications
Education
- High school or equivalent
- Technician training certificate of completion from an accredited institution/college or signed certificate of completion from an employer preferred
Experience
- Prior experience in LTC pharmacy preferred
Skills and Knowledge
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong listening skills, and strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with other healthcare professionals
- Must have ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and to prioritize accordingly
- Must have a desire and willingness to learn and perform new tasks
- Must be self-motivated and self-directed
- An ideal candidate will have a preference for work in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and attention to detail are critical to success
- Active Minnesota Pharmacy Technician registration
- Not on the OIG Exclusions List
- Not on the SAM Exclusion List
- No pending felony charges or convictions for criminal offenses involving controlled substances

Responsibilities
- Maintains current knowledge in pharmacy billing requirements related to facility (Medicare A & Managed Care), commercial third party, Medicaid, Medicare Part B, and Medicare Part D.
- Inputs and validates payer information for New Admissions.
- Provide prescription price quotes.
- Handle billing exceptions and assists with prescription billing.
- Resolve insurance rejections and insurance coverage issues, including Medicaid pending.
- Analyze billing trends and provide feedback to pharmacy leadership regarding continuous improvement opportunities.
- Process and manage prior authorization and non-covered prescription orders.
- Maintain daily census for facilities.
- Review monthly interim billing for customers.
- Assist with all month-end closing functions and processes.
- Collaborates with Account Management to communicate billing, Prior Authorization and Payer information with customer, group or chain of accounts.
- Other duties as assigned.
